Development Applications


The District is committed to advancing development applications as far as possible during the Covid-19 public health emergency, with an eye to keeping the community working.  As long as we are able to ensure the safety of our workers and the public, we will adjust our process in accordance with emerging Provincial orders and guidelines. 

At this time zoning or development inquiries are best submitted to staff via email. Development applications can be submitted digitally or in person at the District Office. There is a dropbox located outside of the front door.

Development Applications in Ucluelet

The Planning Department is responsible for the review and processing of development applications, including rezoning, development permits and subdivision. This ensures that development occurs in compliance with the vision of the Official Community Plan, the Zoning Bylaw and subsequent development regulations.

The Local Government Act {RSBC 2015], Part 14 - Planning and Land Use Management provides details of Public Hearing procedures and permit requirements.  The District of Ucluelet Development Approval Procedures Bylaw No.1164, 2015 should be consulted for local requirements.

The Planning Department should be consulted throughout the application.  They can advise if additional information such as geotechnical studies, impact assessments and environmental management plans are required to accompany your application.
