Press Release: District of Ucluelet Announces Official Election Results of the 2025 By-Election
Ucluelet, B.C. — The District of Ucluelet announces the official results of the 2025 Councillor By-Election. Mayco Noël, a lifelong resident of Ucluelet, has been elected to serve as Councillor following the June 28, 2025 by-election.
Voting was held at the Ucluelet Community Centre, with advance voting held on June 18. Voter turnout reached approximately 27% of eligible electors. Following the official count, Mayco Noël received the highest number of valid votes and will serve as Councillor through to October 2026. He will be officially sworn in at an upcoming Regular Council Meeting. “On behalf of Council and the community, I want to thank all the candidates who put their names forward and all residents who participated in the by-election,” said Mayor of Ucluelet, Marilyn McEwen. “We’re pleased to welcome Mayco Noël back to Council. His prior experience as both Mayor and Councillor will be a valuable asset as we continue to work together on the priorities that matter to our community.”
Noël previously served as Mayor (2018–2022) and Councillor (2014–2018), and is currently engaged in community initiatives, including roles as President of Food Bank on the Edge and Chair of the Redd Fish Restoration Society. “I’m honoured to return to Council and thankful to the residents who supported me. This community deserves bold, practical leadership — and I’m here to deliver. I look forward to working alongside staff and Council to get things done that matter most to Ucluelet’s future.”
