Notice of Election – General Voting Day and Advance Voting Opportunities
PUBLIC NOTICE is given to the electors of the District of Ucluelet that an election is to be held to elect a Mayor and four Councillors for a term ending October, 2030.
Candidates for the offices of Mayor:
(One (1) to be elected for a term ending October 2030)

General Voting Day is Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ucluelet Community Centre, 500 Matterson Drive.
Notice of Advance Voting Opportunities
For those who are unable to vote on general voting day, an advance voting opportunity will be held at the Ucluelet Community Centre, 500 Matterson Drive from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
Registering to Vote
Electors whose names are not on the list of registered electors may register at the time or voting by completing the required application form available at the voting place and providing required identification.
Elector Qualifications
Resident Electors:
- 18 years of age or older on general voting day for the election; and
- a Canadian citizen; and
- a resident of British Columbia for at least six months immediately before the day of registration;
- a resident of the District of Ucluelet; and
- not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election and not otherwise disqualified by law.
Non-Resident Property Electors:
- 18 years of age or older on general voting day for the election; and
- a Canadian citizen; and
- a resident of British Columbia for at least six months immediately before the day of registration; and
- a registered owner of real property in District of Ucluelet for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration; and
- the only persons who are registered owners of the property, either as joint tenants or tenants in common, are individuals who are not holding the property in trust for a corporation or another trust; and
- not entitled to register as a resident elector; and
- not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election and not otherwise disqualified by law; and
- not registered as a non-resident property elector in relation to any other parcel of real property in the District of Ucluelet; and
- if there is more than one registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of the owners, register as a non-resident property elector.
- To register, Non-Resident Property Electors will be required to produce two pieces of identification (at least one with a signature; photo identification is unnecessary), AND proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the property, and if applicable, written consent from the other property owners. A property tax notice/certificate, a property assessment notice from BC Assessment, a State of Title Certificate, Title Search or Certificate of Indefeasible Title are acceptable forms of proof of property ownership. No corporation is entitled to be registered as an elector or have a representative registered as an elector and no corporation is entitled to vote, and permanent residents of Canada (landed immigrants) who have not yet become Canadian citizens are not entitled to vote.
Resident electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature). Picture identification is not necessary. The identification must prove both residency and identity.
Non-resident property electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove identity, proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the property, and, if there is more than one owner of the property, written consent from the majority of the property owners.
Types of documents accepted as identification
You must produce at least two (2) documents that provide evidence of your identity and place of residence, at least one (1) of which must contain your signature. The following classes of documents will be accepted:
a) a Driver’s Licence;
b)an Identification Card such as
i. a photo BC services card;
ii. a non-photo BC services card;
c) an Owner’s Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle Licence issued by ICBC
d) a BC CareCard or BC Gold CareCard;
e) a Ministry of Social Development and Economic Security Request for Continued Assistance Form SDES8, (now “Monthly Form EA181);
f) a Social Insurance Number card;
g) a Citizenship Card;
h) a real property tax notice;
i) a credit card or debit card; or
j) a utility bill, (such as electricity, natural gas, water, telephone or cable services).
The above listed identification documents MUST be accepted by election officials. An election official may also accept other forms of documents that provide evidence satisfactory to the election official (e.g., a valid, current passport). Those electors who may require some assistance as a result of physical challenges are invited to contact the Chief Election Officer as soon as possible in order to facilitate their voting experience.
