Public Notice: Municipal Alcohol Policy Draft Review
Dear Residents,
The District of Ucluelet is seeking comment on the new Municipal Alcohol policy. Register for UkeeListens to voice your questions and comments on this new District initiative.
The goal of this policy is to develop a balanced and health-informed approach that promotes responsible alcohol consumption, reduces alcohol’s prominence in community life, enhances community safety, and supports local decision-making.
The guiding principles of the policy are:
Community Health & Safety
All decisions and practices prioritize reducing alcohol-related harms and promoting safer environments for everyone. Alcohol is positioned as an optional component—not the central focus—of municipal events, supporting long-term cultural/social shifts toward health.

Balanced & Responsible Service
Alcohol service is managed thoughtfully and supported by education and awareness initiatives, to support informed choices, minimize risks, and reduce pressure on participating community members to consume alcohol. Event organizers, District staff, and community partners work together to uphold these principles and maintain healthy and safe community events.
