2026 General Local Election: Nomination Period Now Open

The nomination period for the District of Ucluelet’s 2026 General Local Election is now open.  

The District of Ucluelet reminds electors that nominations for the 2026 General Local Election will be accepted from 9:00 a.m. on September 1, 2026, until 4:00 p.m. on September 11, 2026 (excluding weekends and statutory holidays).

Nominations will be received for the offices of:

  • Mayor (one to be elected)
  • Councillor (four to be elected)

Nomination documents may be delivered by hand, mail, courier, fax, or email to elections@ucluelet.ca. The deadline for receiving nomination documents is 4:00 p.m. on September 11, 2026.

Candidates are strongly encouraged to book an appointment with Ed Chow, Chief Election Officer, or Florence Pelchat, Deputy Chief Election Officer, to submit their nomination documents. This allows candidates to make the required solemn declaration before a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits and provides an opportunity for election officials to review the nomination package for completeness before it is filed. Candidates are encouraged to allow sufficient time before the submission deadline to address any deficiencies that may be identified.

Please note that candidates submitting nomination documents electronically, including by email, must make the required solemn declaration before a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits for British Columbia (such as a lawyer or notary public) prior to submitting their nomination package.

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and hold office as a member of local government if they are:

  • A Canadian citizen;
  • 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day, October 17, 2026;
  • A resident of British Columbia for at least six months immediately before filing nomination papers; and
  • Not otherwise disqualified from holding local government office.
