Public Notice: Fire Ban in Effect July 17, 2025 @ 12:00 PM

Ucluelet, B.C. — Coastal Fire Centre Enacts Category 1 Fire Ban. Effective at 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2025 campfires will be prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre, and a total outdoor burning prohibition will be in effect for all public and private lands within the District of Ucluelet, as per the District of Ucluelet Outdoor Burning Bylaw No. 1288, 2021. This prohibition will remain in effect until further notice. In addition to the prohibition of outdoor fires, the following activities and equipment are also prohibited: Fireworks; Sky lanterns; Burn barrels; Wood fired hot tubs, wood fired pizza ovens and other wood fired devices unless vented through a structure that has a flue and is incorporated into a permitted building. Binary exploding targets; Air curtain burners; Carbonizers; Tiki and similar kind of torches, and; Chimineas. This prohibition excludes the use of portable outdoor fireplaces which burn liquid or gaseous fuel and are designed to provide ambiance and heat. Such devices must be approved by Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC) or the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), only be operated on a non-combustible surface, and have a flame height that does not exceed a height of 15 cm. During this prohibition, the public is encouraged to report any witnessed outdoor burning. Between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM Monday to Friday, please contact the District of Ucluelet Municipal Office at (250) 726-7744. After hours, call 9-1-1 and request the fire department duty officer to attend. Before reporting a fire, please take the time to confirm if the flame is from an approved propane appliance. Public Notice: Scheduled Water Shut-Off – Cypress Rd. & Bay St. Area Wednesday, July 16, 2025

Attention: A scheduled water shut-off is planned to facilitate necessary water main and valve leak repairs in the Bay Street and Cypress Road area. Service Interruption Details: Wednesday, July 16, 2025 Water service will be temporarily shut off from approximately 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Crews will begin excavation work at the intersection of Bay Street and Cypress Road. Properties Affected: All properties on Cypress Road All properties on Bay Street north of Peninsula Road Eagles Nest Pub Properties on Cedar Road north of the RCMP dispatch During this time, residents and businesses in the affected area will experience a temporary disruption to water service. As with any infrastructure work, timelines may be subject to change due to unforeseen conditions. Public Hearing – July 31, 2025 – District of Ucluelet Bylaw No. 1366, 2024 and Bylaw No. 1367, 2025 Pursuant to Sections 464 and 466 of the Local Government Act, notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 2:00 PM. A Special Council Meeting will follow at 4:00 PM the same day. The Public Hearing will take place in person at the George Fraser Community Room in the Ucluelet Community Centre (500 Matterson Drive, Ucluelet, B.C.) and electronically via Zoom.
