Public Works or Parks Service Requests

Do you see a pothole that needs filled? Is there a storm drain on your street that isn’t draining? Citizens of Ucluelet are encouraged to utilize our online Service Request form to request the attention of our Public Works or Parks teams.

Some other examples of requests for service include garbage on the beach, maintenance required on our trails, streetlights out, or washrooms that need attention. Our Online Service Request form is a great way to let our Team know when something may need attention. Not comfortable submitting an online request? No problem! Reach out to the District Office at 250-726-7744.

If you experience an emergency, such as a fire, flood or an accident, be sure to contact the appropriate emergency authority. Comments, suggestions or complaints are best directed in writing, and can be received in person at the District Office, by mail or by email at info@ucluelet.ca.

POSITION:  Bylaw Enforcement Officer – Temporary Full Time (4 months)
DEPARTMENT:
 Planning
RATE OF PAY:  $38.17 per hour (40 hours/week)- Less 10% during probationary period, plus 12% in lieu of benefits and statutory holidays
HOURS OF WORK:  Thursday to Monday, from either:6:30 to 3:00pm; or, 2:30 to 11:00pm
POSTING DATE:  May 12, 2022

ROLE STATEMENT:
This is a temporary, full-time position that reports to the Manager of Community Planning. The Bylaw Enforcement Officer contributes to the effective operation of the District of Ucluelet, primarily through the identifying, investigating, mediating, and resolving of bylaw violations according to enforcement policies adopted by Council and providing of enforcement services to all departments within the organization. In many instances, this will require investigating complaints of alleged bylaw infractions other than during the normal business hours of the District of Ucluelet Municipal Hall.
The Bylaw Enforcement Officer is expected to exercise independent judgement in accomplishing the work and must complete all investigations with initiative and diplomacy. The Bylaw Enforcement Officer position requires a sound understanding of all Municipal Bylaws, must have the ability to think innovatively, the ability to adjust to the political sensitivities, and have proven ability to supervise and mentor Bylaw Ambassador staff.

HOURS OF WORK:  Sunday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
