Another fall storm is set to impact West Vancouver Island today. While this storm is not forcast to be as intense as the major storm that impacted the area this week on Tuesday and Wednesday, strong winds may still cause damage and disruptions. Be prepared: secure loose items on your property and prepare for potential power loss. Use caution when traveling or storm watching, and call Ucluelet’s emergency line to report fallen trees 250-726-8587.

Another wind storm today, less intense than the last one.
When: This afternoon to this evening.
Where: West Vancouver Island.
Peak wind gusts: 90-110 km/h from the southeast.
Remarks: Another fall storm is forecast to impact West Vancouver Island today. An area of low pressure will deepen off the Washington coast is forecast to move northwards and approach Vancouver Island this afternoon.
Southeasterly winds will increase today, with peak wind speeds expected from this afternoon into the evening hours. Strong winds will ease overnight or early Saturday. While this low is not as intense as the major storm that affected the area on Tuesday and Wednesday, and peak wind speeds are forecast to be generally lower, strong winds may still cause damage and disruptions, and slow down clean up efforts.
Gusty winds can damage soft shelters, tents and awnings at outdoor events. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
