Outdoor Burning Prohibition in Ucluelet Effective Friday July 12, 2024 @ 12:00 PM


Ucluelet, B.C. — Coastal Fire Centre Enacts Category 1 Fire Ban. Effective at 12:00 PM on Friday, July 12, 2024 campfires will be prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre, and a total outdoor burning prohibition will be in effect for all public and private lands within the District of Ucluelet, as per the District of Ucluelet Outdoor Burning Bylaw No. 1288, 2021.

This prohibition will remain in effect until Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 12:00 PM, or until the order is rescinded. In addition to the prohibition of outdoor fires, the following activities and equipment are also prohibited:

  • Fireworks;
  • Sky lanterns;
  • Burn barrels;
  • Binary exploding targets;
  • Air curtain burners;
  • Tiki and similar kind of torches, and;
  • Chimineas.

This prohibition excludes the use of outdoor fireplaces and stoves which are CSA or ULC-rated and used outdoors for cooking, heat or ambiance that burns charcoal briquettes, liquid fuel, or gaseous fuel, and has a flame height that is less than 15 cm tall.

During this prohibition, the public is encouraged to report any witnessed outdoor burning. Between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM Monday to Friday, please contact the District of Ucluelet Municipal Office at (250) 726-7744. After hours, call 9-1-1 and request the fire department duty officer to attend. Before reporting a fire, please take the time to confirm if the flame is from an approved propane appliance.
