Fraser Lane One-Way Conversion Beginning Next Week May 27, 2024

Council is moving forward with the conversion of Fraser Lane to one-way traffic in order to resolve a long-standing safety issue.  The turning radius for large fish truck traffic requires them to cross over the center line creating a safety challenge.  This issue has been present for many years and the new Village Green Playground design did not adequately account for the length of the trucks. The District's engineering partner for the Village Green project is in support of resolving this challenge by way of funding the redesign work and the necessary improvements.

Beginning on May 27, 2024 work will commence to transition Fraser Lane to one way traffic, with an estimated time for completion of two weeks; weather dependent.  Vehicles will enter from the Aquarium intersection and exit onto Hellen Road.  New bump outs at Imperial Lane and Helen Road will help guide traffic in the right direction. The District will also be taking this opportunity to change existing parking to angle parking and move the accessible parking stall to a better location.  We will also be adding in a painted pedestrian path along the south side of Fraser Lane from Imperial Lane to the water front to help guide pedestrians walking to and from the water.
