Highway 4 - Cameron Bluffs Wildfire Update, June 12, 2023


The latest update on the Highway 4 - Cameron Bluffs Wildfire The Cameron Bluffs wildfire is currently at 254 hectares, and crews are actively working to contain it. The Ministry of Transportation (MOTI) and BC Wildfire Service are actively assessing the hillside stability and hazards along Highway 4, but are unable to advise on a possible opening date at this time. 

MOTI has prioritized commercial truck convoys, which are helping to improve the delivery of supplies to the region. Supplies such as food, medications, and fuel will continue to make their way to Ucluelet. We appreciate the effort of community members to purchase groceries and fuel as needed. 

The region continues to advise residents that the alternate route should be used only for essential travel. If you are planning on traveling, please ensure your headlights are on at all times as visibility is poor due to dust.

Island link bus service will be offering daily service between Port Alberni, Tofino and Ucluelet. for more information visit www.islandlinkbus.com. At this time, there is no service to Nanaimo.
