Highway 4, Cameron Bluffs Wildfire Update Friday June 9, 2023 #2

The Cameron Bluffs wildfire has grown to 208 hectares. Today was a good day for fire response as fire activity has decreased. Additional crews were deployed with heavy equipment and helicopters to assist in the efforts to contain the fire.

The Highway 4 detour is closed today from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and is expected to open as planned.

At this time, we are strongly encouraging essential travel only on the detour route. As fuel supplies are limited in Port Alberni, it is not recommended to make the trip as fuel may not be available at the time of travel to make it through the detour.

Food and fuel supplies are making their way to Ucluelet, although delayed. We encourage all residents to limit purchases to what is needed now, as food supplies will continue to make their way to the west coast.

The next update will be on Monday June 12, 2023.
