"To inspire, educate and entertain by celebrating our coastal traditions, unique environment and the spring return of the grey whale."
That's the mission statement of the Pacific Rim Whale Festival Society.
Throughout the coastal towns of Tofino and Ucluelet and around the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, the Pacific Rim Whale Festival is an all-out celebration of life on the coast!
It's about grey whales and marine life education, inspirational talks and interpretive walks, children's fun for the small and culinary events for the tall, First Nations cultural workshops and more - come and experience a coastal tradition!
The Pacific Rim Whale Festival kicks off famed West Coast Vancouver Island Whale Watching Season.
The Pacific Rim Whale Festival has published the calendar of culinary, cultural, musical and educational events - many of them free - planned for the 28th Annual Pacific Rim Whale Festival being held in Tofino, Ucluelet and the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, on the west coast of Vancouver Island, from March 12-27, 2016.
The Pacific Rim Whale Festival marks the opening of the region's renowned whale watching season and the annual migration of over 20,000 Grey whales on their 13,000 km journey from the waters of Mexico's Baja Peninsula to the Bering Sea. Known for the abundance of Grey, Humpback and Orca sightings year-round, the west coast of Vancouver Island is one of the world's premier whale watching destinations with more than a dozen operators based in Tofino and Ucluelet conducting whale watching boat tours from March through October.
