Today the Public Works team and the dive team proceeded through the plan for retrieving the damaged water line which supplies Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ with drinking and fire suppression water.
The water line was cut at the damaged section and 300m of line was safely removed from the inlet and brought onshore for inspection. The line will be assessed and repaired as starting Wednesday. After repairs are complete, the line will be barged back into the inlet and prepared to be reattached, anchored and returned to service.
Currently, there is no direct water supply to Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ. A water supply truck has been regularly hauling water to Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ from Ucluelet’s water system at Lost Shoe Creek. Work on the damaged water line is progressing well and our public works team is moving quickly to re-establish this critical line back to service and re-supplying water to Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ.
Please be advised that while repairs to the water line are in progress, the Pat Leslie Boat Launch will remain CLOSED to the public, effective immediately. We will issue a Public Notice confirming its re-opening, when the water line repairs are complete.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. Any questions or concerns can be directed to the District of Ucluelet municipal office at 250-726-7744.
