2025 By-Election Notice of Nomination Period
Public Notice is given to the electors of the District of Ucluelet that a by-election will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Nominations for the office of:
Councillor (one to be elected)
for a term ending October, 2026 will be received by the Chief Election Officer or Deputy Chief Election officer as follows:
When: 9 a.m., May 13, 2025 to 4 p.m., May 23, 2025
(excluding statutory holidays and weekends)
Where: District of Ucluelet, Corporate Services, 200 Main Street, Ucluelet, BC, V0R 3A0
How: Nomination documents may be delivered by hand, by mail or by other delivery service, or by fax or email, with originals to follow. The deadline for receiving originals of nomination documents is 4:00 p.m., May 30, 2025.
Nomination documents are available in Corporate Services at the District of Ucluelet Municipal Office during regular office hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays and weekends) throughout the nomination period (9 a.m., May 13, 2025 to 4 p.m. May 23, 2025) and are also posted on the District’s website at https://ucluelet.ca/
Qualifications for Office
A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:
• Canadian Citizen;
• 18 years of age or older on general voting day June 28, 2025;
• Resident of British Columbia for at least six months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed;
• not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from being nominated for, being elected to or holding office, or be otherwise disqualified by law
Campaign Expense and Third-Party Advertising Limits
The expense limit for candidates established by Elections BC for the 2025 councillor by-election is $5,398.92. The third-party advertising limit is $809.84.
