Exciting New Chapter Opens for Ucluelet Visitor Services

Ucluelet, BC --- The District of Ucluelet, Tourism Ucluelet, and the Ucluelet Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce that, as of last month, Ucluelet's Visitor Services program will transition from the Chamber of Commerce to Tourism Ucluelet.

Once the new agreement is signed, this new arrangement will allow Tourism Ucluelet - who operates as Ucluelet's Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) - to deliver visitor services within the community as well as manage the Pacific Rim Visitor Centre, a location that engages tens of thousands of unique travellers on an annual basis.

The Chamber of Commerce has been the District's provider of Visitor Services since 2004. Last month, the District of Ucluelet and Chamber of Commerce mutually agreed to end their contract so that the Chamber, which is comprised of a board of volunteers, can focus on strengthening their Chamber services and activities. The transition of Visitor Services between the two organizations is already underway, with a new agreement expected to be signed with Tourism Ucluelet before the end of the year.

Dianne St Jacques, District of Ucluelet Mayor

"We are incredibly grateful to the Chamber for all their hard work over the years in operating visitor services. It is no small endeavour, and to run both a Chamber and this contract is a testament to those tireless and hard-working board members. We look forward to building on the Chamber's work with our new contractor, Tourism Ucluelet, and to continuing our partnerships with both organizations in delivering a supreme quality of service to our community and exceptional experiences to our visitors."

Tracy Eeftink, Tourism Ucluelet Chair

"All of us at Tourism Ucluelet would like to acknowledge and thank the Ucluelet Chamber of Commerce for their outstanding dedication and tireless efforts over the years providing an exceptional experience to all visitors. Our goal, over the coming months, will be to work closely with the Ucluelet Chamber of Commerce and the District of Ucluelet as well as local and regional stakeholders to ensure a seamless and successful transition. We are looking forward to welcoming Visitor Services into our Organization and building on the foundation that was created."

Dave Christensen, Ucluelet Chamber of Commerce President

"The Chamber Board of Directors view this change as a positive opportunity to work with Tourism Ucluelet and the District to help coordinate the same high level of service our visitors have come to expect, while delivering this service in a much more cost effective way. We will continue to promote the services and businesses in the community."
